Quick read – The Whores of Mensa

Randomly stumbled upon a reference to a Woody Allen short story that I had to look up this morning – “The Whores of Mensa“.

The meet with Flossie was anti-climactic but on the whole it’s a fun, quick read. Very much reminds me of Jasper Fforde, though of course this story came out in ’74 in the New Yorker.

My favourite bit:

She was barely nineteen years old, but already she had developed the hardened facility of the pseudo-intellectual. She rattled off her ideas glibly, but it was all mechanical.

Ah, it’s been a while since I’ve had a margin-discussion for one.
